I am drawn to the quiet beauty of nature and its colors , ochres, soft greens, deep umbers. When I paint, I think of how these tones ground us, how they remind me of soil, stone, and the gentle pulse of life.
My process is slow and meditative. I lean on layers of oil building like petals unfolding, guided more by feeling than plan.
I lean deeply on my heritage and on the poetry of Urdu( my native language). It’s ability to hold both small prayers and expansive thoughts in just a few words. These fragments of language often find their way into my work, not always as something to be read, but as something to be felt, woven into the paint as intention, memory, and reverence.
Living and working in Austin, Texas, I am continually inspired by the culture and people around me. Through the embrace of friendship, the invitation to stay true to who you are and grow authentically while keepin’ it weird, all inspired me. This life as an artist, a blend of my My Muslim heritage and my Austin roots are both grounding and alive in my work and each piece becomes a quiet conversation between place, nature and spirit.
