art for a cause
I love this quote by Vincent Van Gogh, "Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well."
Why do I love this quote? Well, a few months back, I was told by a friend about a sweet family that used to live in New York and now resides in California. What is special about this family is that they have two little beautiful children and their older daughter is a ray of sunshine as all kids have that super power.
This little ray of sunshine was born with a hearing impairment and attends a specialized non-profit preschool called Weingarten Children's Center (“WCC”) in Redwood City, CA. There, she and dozens of other children with hearing loss learn how to listen, speak and dream, as any little child should.
I was actually able to watch a video where this little one had her cochlear implants activated for the first time and she could HEAR for the very first time!! There are no words to describe the sensation of watching her hear and react to the sound of her parents voice for the first time in her life!
This school offers an amazing environment for kids with communication or hearing challenges so they may grow, excel and reach their full potential. They are having their 50th Year Anniversary Benefit Gala on September 16th! WCC relies on these funds to continue their superb operations and to be able to provide scholarships for children in need. Every little bit helps this small but transformative school.
I feel so lucky to be able to create and donate an original piece of artwork for their amazing cause and contribute towards their every day goal of making someo
